Lists change without warning.

Every update is one of three things: someone is added, an entry is amended, or someone is removed. Here’s what each means for your firm.

    Addition

A person or organisation is designated and added to a list.

    For your firm
Anyone you already act for could now be a designated person. Dealing with their funds or economic resources may be prohibited, and you may have reporting obligations.
    In FirmScreen
The next daily re-screen checks every customer against the new entry. A match opens a case and notifies your team.

    Amendment

An existing entry changes: a new alias, a corrected date of birth, an added nationality.

    For your firm
A customer who didn’t match before might match now, because the list has learned another name they use.
    In FirmScreen
Customers are re-screened against the amended entry, aliases included, and each run records the list version it used.

    Removal

A person or organisation is delisted.

    For your firm
Restrictions under that listing end, but your records of what you did while they were listed still matter.
    In FirmScreen
New screenings stop matching the entry. Earlier results and decisions stay in the audit trail, unchanged.

    Ongoing monitoring

Re-screened every day. Recorded every time.

Whichever list changes, every customer is checked against it the next morning, and each run is written to the audit trail. How monitoring works

    Questions firms ask

    Still have a question?
    hello@firmscreen.io

    1. There’s no fixed timetable. OFAC often updates its list several times a week. The UK and EU tend to move in larger packages when new measures are adopted, and the UN updates as its sanctions committees agree listings. Any of them can change on any day.

    2. Ongoing monitoring under regulation 28(11) means your checks need to keep pace with the lists. Re-checking by hand after every change isn’t practical for most firms, which is why FirmScreen re-screens every customer automatically, daily by default.

    3. Follow your firm’s procedures and take advice where you need it. Designation can mean you must not deal with the customer’s funds or economic resources, and there may be reporting obligations to OFSI. FirmScreen records the match, your decision and your reasons; it doesn’t make the decision or report for you.
