Every check, with the proof.

FirmScreen covers the screening, monitoring and record-keeping parts of your customer due diligence. Here’s everything it does, and the regulation each part answers.
    01

    Screening

People and companies, checked against every sanctions list and the PEP data in one search.

    • Search by name, date of birth, nationality and country.
    • Matching copes with word order, accents, typos, dropped middle names, transliteration and aliases in other scripts.
    • A date of birth rules out namesakes, so fewer innocent people are flagged.
    • One-off checks, or batches of up to 500 customers from a spreadsheet.

    02

    Ongoing monitoring

Every customer is re-screened automatically for as long as the relationship lasts.

    • Daily by default; weekly or monthly if you prefer.
    • A customer added to a list later is caught on the next run.
    • New matches open a case and notify the team.

    03

    Case management

Every possible match becomes a case with a risk level, an owner and notes.

    • Side-by-side comparison of your customer and the list entry.
    • Closed as a confirmed match or a false positive, with the reason recorded.

    04

    Politically exposed persons

PEPs, their family members and known close associates, handled the way regulation 35 requires.

    • UK and foreign PEPs are treated differently.
    • Former PEPs are kept for 12 months after leaving office (reg 35(9)).
    • Senior management approval, source of wealth and source of funds recorded for each PEP relationship, with scheduled reviews.
    • A coverage statement shows exactly which kinds of PEP are and aren’t covered.

    05

    Adverse information

Official records plus a guided adverse media check.

    • HMRC’s published list of deliberate tax defaulters.
    • One click runs the searches a supervisor expects: news, court judgments, insolvency, regulator registers and Companies House.
    • The outcome is recorded on the customer’s file. A person runs the check; it isn’t automated monitoring.
    06

    Customer risk assessment

A low, medium or high rating for every customer, built from the facts on file.

    • Country risk (FATF lists), PEP status, screening results, adverse information, sector, how the customer was onboarded, and ownership.
    • Flags when enhanced due diligence is required and schedules the next review.
    07

    Directors and beneficial owners

Add the people behind a company customer, each screened and monitored in their own right.

    • Directors, shareholders and beneficial owners, with ownership percentages.
    • Their results count in the company’s risk rating.
    08

    Records and evidence

Everything you’d need to show a supervisor, already assembled.

    • Append-only audit trail of every screening, decision, change and deletion. Nobody can edit or delete entries.
    • Each screening records which version of each list was checked.
    • One-click PDF evidence pack per customer, with a fingerprint that proves it hasn’t been altered.
    • Screening certificates, MLRO compliance reports, and CSV, JSON and PDF exports.
    • Firm-wide risk assessment (reg 18), with suggested wording.
    • Five-year retention after a relationship ends (reg 40), then a prompt to delete. Holds keep records longer where the law requires.
    09

    API and webhooks

Screen from your own systems if you’d rather not re-key customers.

    • Scoped, rate-limited API keys: screen one customer or a batch, list customers, alerts and cases, add customers to monitoring.
    • Signed webhooks for screening.completed, case.created, case.updated and alert.updated.
    • OpenAPI documentation in the app.

    FAQ

    Questions firms ask

    Still have a question?
    hello@firmscreen.io

    1. The UK Sanctions List (FCDO), the UN Security Council Consolidated List, the US Treasury SDN list (OFAC), the EU Financial Sanctions Database, PEP data from UK and European sources and heads of state and government worldwide, and HMRC’s list of deliberate tax defaulters. Each is taken straight from the publisher and refreshed daily.

    2. No. Matching is deterministic fuzzy matching: the same input always gives the same result, and the reasons for a match are visible. That makes decisions easier to explain to a supervisor.

    3. No. FirmScreen doesn’t check passports or driving licences, run biometric checks or verify addresses. Use it alongside an ID verification provider.

    4. No. It gives you the screening results, a risk rating and a record of what was checked. The decision, any suspicious activity report to the NCA, and any report to OFSI stay with your firm.

    5. Access is by invitation. Book a demo, and we’ll set your firm up and invite your team. There’s no self sign-up or free trial.
